Welcome to
the FBU Region 9 homepage
Thanks for visiting the region 9 (East Anglia) learning page. FBU learning particularly wants to engage new learners and those who have found just too many barriers in the way to either finding time to acquire new knowledge and skills or brush up on what has already been achieved.
The Union Learning Representative (ULR) exists to assist members and their families in overcoming barriers to learning and exploring what is in it for them, and how to access it to meet their needs. All ULR’s are given training for their role through courses with the TUC (or other unions) which are accredited and are designed to help a ULR develop their skills and knowledge to promote learning in the workplace.
We currently (April 2007) have learning agreements in place in Suffolk & Cambridgeshire. Soon we hope to have agreements in Norfolk, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire & Essex too. These agreements allow our learning to take place and give our ULR’s the time they need to assist you. Learning is a positive force and the Fire & Rescue services who have already signed up to agreements understand how this can help develop their staff.
Learning can be a very powerful way of increasing confidence, knowledge and ability. You don’t need to be Einstein to be learning. Have a chat with your local Coordinator and find out who your ULR is, who knows, it may even change your life?
If you would like to talk to a ULR in your brigade or even become a ULR yourself then please contact your Coordinator below for further information.
