The Fire Brigade's Union has appointed a regional co-ordinator, Graham Humphrey who, with the support of the government's Union Learning Fund and working in partnership with Fire Service employers across the region, is recruiting Union Learning Representatives and organising training for them. Their role can include identifying learning needs, providing information on learning and working with employers and colleges to improve access to learning opportunities.

No previous union experience is necessary to become a union learning representative, as training to support and promote learning and personal development of colleagues will be given on a 5 day course. The first Union Learning Representatives in the region are from Hereford and Worcester and Staffordshire and have just completed their training. More representatives are needed by all of the Fire Services in the region.
