Welcome to the Fire Brigades Union’s lifelong learning website which I hope you find informative and interesting.
The FBU has always promoted education as a powerful resource that, when used, is a most powerful ally. Knowledge is power they say and here in the FBU we have made good use of it over the years. Our Lifelong Learning policy not only endorses this but intends to widen the field for learners within the Fire and Rescue Service.
Our Union Learning Fund Projects have been instrumental in encouraging our members to become Union Learning Representatives and providing our members with new learning opportunities. ULR’s are an integral part of our union and on behalf of the Executive Council I endorse the work of all those involved in promoting lifelong learning throughout the Fire and Rescue Service.
It is my aim to have our learning agenda as a fundamental mainstream member service. Not only an agenda that supports FBU members in learning but one that highlights the inequalities of access to learning for those most disadvantaged workers’ throughout the world.
